Same-Day Sealed Name Change (Snohomish)

If ANYBODY wants a sealed name change, you are able to do it same-day in Snohomish county (and I believe most other counties that aren’t King).

You are not required to file for a sealed name change in the county superior court you reside in.

Fill out this petition and proposed order from WashingtonLawHelp. (And fill out the fee waiver from the county you’re applying at if you’re looking to have fees waived – here’s Snohomish’s).

You don’t have to schedule a hearing. Just file with the Clerks’ Office on the 2nd floor of the Snohomish Superior Court. You’ll file on the right side of the counter with the cashier’s (there will be a sign).

Then, proceed immediately to walk into Courtroom 1B (“ex parte”), and put your name on the list. (No need to put deadname).

Wait for them to call your name. Once the order is signed, return to the 2nd floor clerk and get copies and such. (You should get several certified copies if possible.)

Note: If you are filing with a few waiver, you will go to ex parte first (1B in Snohomish) and get the fee waiver signed, then go file on 2nd floor with that fee waiver, then go back to 1B to get the order signed.
